Our work in the community

We work with local community groups, charities and CICs to help them grow and make a difference.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group

Support for your community group

If you’re running a group, we can support you to apply for funding, set up new projects, run events and connect with others doing similar work. Thinking about making your community group more official? We can help with that too.

We can help with:

  • Developing your community group
  • Connecting you to local services and support
  • Applying for funding or writing grant bids
  • Promoting and supporting your events
  • Coordinating training and sharing resources
  • Linking you to social value opportunities

Connecting communities

Our Community Connector events bring local people, professionals and volunteers together to share ideas and grow networks. Each event is themed and informal and we regularly see over 80 people turn up!

Grab a grant for your project

We have Community Development Grants from £200 to £2,500 available for local groups running projects that benefit people who live in Wythenshawe.

Who can apply?

  • Local groups (especially small ones with little or no funding)
  • Projects that help our community

We fund things like:

  • Community events
  • Projects for wellbeing, youth, older people, inclusion, jobs, digital access and more
  • The grants criteria

You can apply if you’re a local voluntary or community group based in Wythenshawe and your project helps local residents.

We’ll prioritise small, unfunded groups who don’t get regular funding from elsewhere.

    Who can’t apply?

    We can’t give grants to:

    • Individuals
    • Profit-making businesses
    • Projects which promote political or religious activities
    • Projects that are paid for by the council or government (like schools or healthcare)

    What we look for

    To apply, your group must:

    • Have a bank account in your group’s name
    • Have a constitution or set of rules
    • Make sure no committee members are related

    We won’t fund:

    • Alcohol
    • Wages or salaries
    • More than 6 months of room or pitch hire
    • More than 2 trips or events per year

Your project must benefit Wythenshawe residents. If you’re awarded a grant, you’ll need to send us a short report and receipts at the end to show how you used the money.
