About us

Environment and sustainability

We’re proud of our 'Garden City' heritage and work hard to protect it. From our homes and gardens, to our neighbourhoods and shared green spaces, we’re making greener choices to help keep Wythenshawe thriving now, and in the future.

Warm homes

Warm homes

We know energy bills are a big worry, and we’re doing our bit to help. We’re retrofitting homes to help you use less energy and cut bills by:

  • Adding better insulation and greener heating systems
  • Improving ventilation to fight damp and mould
  • Supporting local and national energy-saving schemes

Sustainable habits

  • We recycle waste from repairs whenever we can
  • We dispose of things like treated wood and old furniture safely
  • When it comes to weedkiller – we only use it when really needed
  • We recycle old computers and phones

Cutting our carbon footprint

We’re serious about reducing our carbon emissions – from how we heat buildings to how we get around.

We’ve put together a Net Zero Roadmap, and we’re already:

  • Watching our emissions
  • Switching to cleaner, greener energy
  • Upgrading our fleet to low-emission vehicles
  • Investing in more sustainable buildings and tech

There’s still more work to do, but we’re proud of what we’ve achieved and we’re heading in the right direction.

How you can be sustainable

We all have a part to play in keeping Wythenshawe a clean, green and welcoming place to live.

By making small changes day-to-day, we can help our community and the planet too.

  • Save energy

Turn off lights and appliances when you’re not using them and keep the warmth in by closing doors and curtains.

  • Waste less

Recycle properly, reuse what you can, and pass on items that someone else might need.

  • Use less water

Take shorter showers and fix dripping taps to save water and money.

  • Travel smarter

Walk, cycle or hop on the bus when you can, it all adds up.

  • Care for your surroundings

Get involved in local clean-ups, plant flowers, or simply take pride in your green spaces.

Together, we can make Wythenshawe a place that’s not only great to live in today, but ready for the future.

Social value that lasts

Our social value goes beyond what we build – it’s about the difference we make to the people of Wythenshawe.

Here’s what we’re doing to make sure social value is at the centre of what we do:

  • We use local suppliers and contractors
  • We create job, training and volunteering opportunities
  • We add ‘community benefit’ promises into our contracts
  • We offer services that locals really want and need
  • And we track what real impact our services are having

Investing in Wythenshawe means investing in local people.
