Buying your home

We're proud to help our tenants become homeowners — right here in Wythenshawe.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group

Want to buy your home?

If you’re currently renting from Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, you might be able to buy your home at a discounted price through one of two government-backed schemes:

  • Preserved Right to Buy (PRTB)
  • Right to Acquire (RTA)

We’ve outlined the key info below, including eligibility, how the schemes work, and how to apply.

A quick note about transfers

On 1 April 2021, we became one organisation: Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.

  • If you moved between Parkway Green and Willow Park homes after this date, you’ve kept your PRTB eligibility.
  • If you moved between the two years before 1 April 2021, you may no longer qualify for PRTB, but could still be eligible for Right to Acquire.

Different ways to buy your home

  • Preserved Right to Buy (PRTB)

This scheme is available only to tenants whose tenancy transferred from Manchester City Council to either Parkway Green or Willow Park.

    Key Transfer Dates:

    • Parkway Green: 30 October 2006
    • Willow Park: 29 March 1999 and 4 October 2004

    To keep your PRTB rights:

    • You must have had no break in your tenancy since the transfer
    • You must have stayed within the same landlord group — Parkway Green or Willow Park — until 1 April 2021

If you moved to a different landlord before that date, your eligibility switched to the Right to Acquire scheme.

    How the discount works

    • Based on the number of full tenancy years
    • Up to £26,000 discount in the Northwest
    • Houses: max discount after 40 years
    • Flats: max discount after 15 years
    • Homes are sold at market value, minus your discount

    How to apply for PRTB

    If you think you’re eligible:

  • Right to acquire (RTA)

If you’re not eligible for PRTB, you may qualify for the Right to Acquire.

This gives you a £10,000 fixed discount on the market value of your Wythenshawe Community Housing Group home.

    Eligibility

    You must:

    • Be a current Wythenshawe Community Housing Group tenant (or have been with Parkway Green or Willow Park before April 2021)
    • Have been a public sector tenant (with any council or housing association) for at least 3 years
    • The 3 years don’t need to be in a row

Some homes, such as specialist properties for elderly or disabled residents, may be exempt. We’ll let you know if your property qualifies when you apply.

    How to apply for RTA
