If you’re currently renting from Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, you might be able to buy your home at a discounted price through one of two government-backed schemes: Preserved Right to Buy (PRTB) Right to Acquire (RTA) We’ve outlined the key info below, including eligibility, how the schemes work, and how to apply.
On 1 April 2021, we became one organisation: Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. If you moved between Parkway Green and Willow Park homes after this date, you’ve kept your PRTB eligibility. If you moved between the two years before 1 April 2021, you may no longer qualify for PRTB, but could still be eligible for Right to Acquire.
Preserved Right to Buy (PRTB) This scheme is available only to tenants whose tenancy transferred from Manchester City Council to either Parkway Green or Willow Park. Key Transfer Dates: Parkway Green: 30 October 2006 Willow Park: 29 March 1999 and 4 October 2004 To keep your PRTB rights: You must have had no break in your tenancy since the transfer You must have stayed within the same landlord group — Parkway Green or Willow Park — until 1 April 2021 If you moved to a different landlord before that date, your eligibility switched to the Right to Acquire scheme. How the discount works Based on the number of full tenancy years Up to £26,000 discount in the Northwest Houses: max discount after 40 years Flats: max discount after 15 years Homes are sold at market value, minus your discount How to apply for PRTB If you think you’re eligible: Download and complete the PRTB application form Return it with your signed supporting documents Email: enquiries@gardencityhomes.org.uk (we can’t accept typed signatures) Or post: Wythenshawe Community Housing Group 8 Poundswick Lane, Wythenshawe, M22 9TA Right to acquire (RTA) If you’re not eligible for PRTB, you may qualify for the Right to Acquire.
